A Huge Success For The Egyptian Individual Open 2010

The tournament has taken place in the beautiful site of El Sawy CultureWheel -which is a cultural center laying on a 5,000 m² right under the 15th of May bridge on Zamalek island ,Cairo-from 22-30 November.(255) strong players participated in the tournament.IM\Fouad El Taher has won the Egyptian Individual 2010 with 9 points -on tiebreaks- while IM\Mohamed Ezzat came second and IM\Sayed Barakat came third ;Ahmed El Zayady came 4th and Fadi Marko (U-20) was 5th with also 9 points.The surprise was Mohamed Nader (U-16) who played very well ;scored 8.5 points and came 7th ,also FM\Abdelrahman Hesham (U-18)came 9th with 8 points.FM\Andro Wagdy scored 8 points and came first(U-14)also the very talented Abdelrahman Yasser Allam 9 years old (my student)-memeber of Smouha Men's team-made an excellent performance and scored 6 points and came first (U-12 and U-10)-who received the U-10 prize- but the (U-12) prize was awarded to Shahenda Wafa with 5.5 points The first among pioneers over 50 years was IM\Walaa Sarwat and the winner of the first prize of unrated players went to Mahmoud Mohamed Mabed.Also a huge blitz tournament took place and the winners were:GM\Ahmed Adly (first) and GM\Bassem Amin came second and in the third place was Ahmed Mousa.

The closing ceremony was well organized and was attended by Dr.Moustafa Abu Elkaeir-Chairman of the Egyptian Chess Federation-who handed the awards to the champions.

The tournament's committee made a huge effort for the grantee of the success of the tournament especially the tournament directors: Mr. Adel Saad and Mr. Ahmed Kamal and Chief-Arbiter\I.A. Mohamed Abdel Haleem ; and I.A and Fide lecturer Eng.\Hassan Khaled who was responsible for the pairing.I would like to thank Mr.Mahmoud Gomaa -member of the tournament's committee in the Egyptian Chess Federation- for all the tremendous photos.Congratulations to all !
