Smouha First Closed Chess Tournament 2010 : Mr.Ashraf Toson Won First Prize

Heba Elwazzan Played with great courage to beat Ahmed Sameh in a fanatastic game
 Mr.Ashraf Toson has deservedly won Smouha 1st Closed chess tournament after his win with the black pieces against Abdel Rahman Yasser to win the first trophy while Abdel Rahman Yasser won the first unrated Prize and a special prize was awarded to Yara Allam as the youngest chess player in the tournament. IM\Aly Yasseen won his game  easily against Salma Wagdy while Mr.Mahmoud Hammdy was able to beat Perihan Assem .Yara Allan won her game against Mr.Khaled Abdel Ghany who failed to appear in time.The real excitement came from the game Ahmed Sameh against Heba Elwazzan who fought bravely despite of being a queen down but  coordinated her pieces (2 knights and a bishop) and launched an attack against White's king that went successfully to take home the full point with the admiration and respect of every one in the hall !

Heba Elwazzan achieved a deserved draw with the white pieces against  Mr.Mahmoud Hamdy as she played the opening and the middle game with great skill and understanding.The unpredictable Ahmed Sameh won his game against Perihan Assem and IM\Aly Yasseen won his game easily against Yara Allam .Abdel Rahman Yasser (with the black pieces) lost his game against Mr.Khaled Abdel Ghany in a Scotch game after trying 5...Bb6 instead of the common 5... Qf6 but he played incorrectly to find himself in a lost position ; and finally Ashraf Toson won his game against Salma Wagdy.

Ahmed Sameh was the star : he surprised IM\Aly Yasseen with the solid Berlin Defense although he is known to be a Sicilian devotee ! This young Egyptian talent has the ability to throw any opening or defense against anyone at any time...surprised by the opening chosen by Ahmed ...IM\Aly Yasseen chose a quite continuation but unfortunately Ahmed missed to win a piece in the opening by force and the game ended in a draw.Peihan Assem went to win her game agains Salma Wagdy who had the superior game but missed a simple mate in one move !
Mahmoud Hamdy drew his game against Khaled Abdel Ghany by a perpetual check.Abdel Rahman Yasser went to win his game against Yara Allam.

GM\Hou Yifan Has Desevedly WonThe Women' World Chess Championship To Become The New Chess Queen !

 GM\Hou Yifan has deservedly won the Women's World Chess Championship in Hatay, Turkey, making her the youngest women's world champion in history. Her compatriot Ruan Lufei was her opponent in the finals, where the score was tied 2-2. Hou won the title by beating Ruan 3-1 during the rapid playoffs.
Hou Yifan (Chinese: 侯逸凡; pinyin: Hóu Yìfán About this sound pronunciation ) (born February 27, 1994, in Xinghua, Taizhou, Jiangsu, China is a Chinese chess prodigy . In 2008, she became the youngest ever female in history (at the age of 14 years 6 months) to qualify for the title of Grandmaster.In June 2007, she became China's youngest ever National Women's Champion, and in September 2008 she became the youngest ever finalist for the Women's World Championship title.At the age of 12, she became and still holds the record for being the youngest ever player to participate at the FIDE Women's World Championship (Yekaterinburg 2006), and at the Chess Olympiad (Torino 2006).She achieved the titles of Woman FIDE Master in January 2004, Woman Grandmaster in January 2007, International Master in September 2008, for reaching the final of the Women's World Championship......

 Abdel Rahman yasser was the star of the round as he drew IM\Aly yasseen ; the young talent had the better game after accepting the Knight's sacrifice but then came a perpetual check by the black queen from a5 and a1 although the white King could have ran away but the young talented boy preferred not to risk matters .Heba won her game against Perihan. Mr.Khaled had an easy win against Salma afer she made an inaccuracy in the opening ;and Mr.Ashraf had beaten Yara-7 years old & the youngest participant-Mahmoud Hamdy won his game against Ahmed Sameh .

 The only surprise of this round was the level of play of Heba Elwazzan (with the black pieces) against Mr.\Khaled Abdel Ghany that surprised all the spectators with her self confidence and positional understanding but unfortunately she blundered and her king fell in a mating net in a game Black should have at least drawn .Abd Elrahman won easily against Perihan after she blundered a pawn ,Ahmed Sameh lost to Mr.Shraf Toson although he stood well in the middle game ;Salma Wagdy won against Yara Allam while IM\Aly Yasseen drew with Mr.Mahmoud Hamdy despite the exchange sacrifice.

The big surprise of the day was Perihan Assem (12 years old)who was able to hold a draw with the black pieces against Mr\Khaled Abdel Ghany (2133)in a Caro-Kann defence game.IM\Aly yasseen (2320)outplayed his opponent -with the black pieces-in a beautiful Sicilian game against Mr\Ashraf Toson (2116). Smouha First Closed Chess Tournament Takes Place From 21-28 December 2010

 Smouha First Closed Chess Tournament will take place from 21-28 December 2010 at Smouha Club Chess Academy (SCCA) VIP hall in Alexandria ,Egypt .Ten players were invited to play : 4 Masters and 6 talented youth from SCCA will compete in a one round Robin Tournament.The chess masters are :IM\Aly Yasseen (2320);Mr.Khaled Abdel Ghany (2133);Mr.Mahmoud Hamdy Darwish (2117)and Mr.Ashraf Toson (2116) while the talented chess youth are :Yara Allam ; Perihan Asem;Heba Elwazzan ;Ahmed Sameh ; Salma Wagdy-member of Egypt's national team and second U-10- and Abdel Rahman Yasser -member of Egypt's National team and Youth Chess Champion U-10-.
The chief arbiter is I.A Mr.\Yehya Mosallam and I.A Eng.\Hassan Khaled is responsible for the pairing and the tournament director is Eng.Medhat Moheb.

Chess Super Star And World's No. 1 Player GM\Magnus Carlsen Has Deservedly Won The 2nd London Chess Classic and 50,000 Euros First Prize

Magnus Carlsen clinched first place and the 50,000 euros first prize in the 2010 London Chess Classic at Olympia on Wednesday with a consummate positional win against England’s Nigel Short. Theirs was the second game to finish but the tie-break ensured that Magnus would take first regardless of other results. Vishy Anand and Vlad Kramnik drew their game and the two results should also see Magnus Carlsen Carlsen reclaim his place at the top of the official rating list in January 2011. His mentor Garry Kasparov was present at the venue to comment on the games of the final round and see his protégé win the tournament for the second successive year...Final Scores: 1st Magnus Carlsen 13/21, 2-3rd Vishy Anand, Luke McShane 11, 4th Hikaru Nakamura 10, 5th Vladimir Kramnik 10, 6th Mickey Adams 8, 7th David Howell 4, 8th Nigel Short 2. 9-year old Canadian Wins 2010 Canadian Chess Player of the Year Award

 Each year the Canadian Chess Journalists, supplemented by one public Fan Ballot, pick the player who has achieved the most in Canadian chess in the past year – this is run by Canadian chess historian and organizer David Cohen.This year the choice of the journalists, and the Fan Ballot were the same ( first time this has happened ) – 9-year old Victoria, B.C. junior, FM Jason Cao, Under 10 Years Old World Chess Champion.
