Sameh Sadek (2372 Elo) Won Egypt's National Open Chess Championship.. GM\Ahmed Adly (2601 Elo) Won The National Blitz Chess Championship 2011

Under the auspice of the Egyptian Chess Federation and the General Authority Of The Cultural Palaces ,Egypt's National Chess Championship took place from 19 November to 1 December 2011 at El Gizah Cultural Palace ,the event attracted 261 players from all over the country ,among them : 7 IMs ,5 FMs ,1 WGM ,2WFMs and 1WCM .The tournament directors were : Mr.Reda Gameel and Mr.Ahmed Kamal Moustafa and the Chief Arbiter was I.A\Ahmed Yehya;I.A\Hassan Khaled was responsible for the pairing.
 Sameh Sadek (2372 Elo) won the tournament with 10 points out of 12 games ,Malak Rageb (2338 Elo) came second with 9.5 points while IM\Ibrahim Labib (2408 Elo) came third with 9.5 points ,IM\Abdul El Hameed El Arousy (2301 Elo) came fourth with 9.5 points and IM\Mohsen El Gabry (2334 Elo) came fifth with 9.5 points .
GM\Ahmed Adly (2601 Elo) deservedly won Egypt's National Blitz Chess Championship that took place on Friday the second of December and lasted for about 5 hours and attracted 64 players .The no.1 Egptian Player scored 7.5 points out of 9 games ,Sameh Sadek (2372 Elo) came second with 7 points while IM\Mohamed Ezzat (2439 Elo) came third with 7 points.
The closing ceremony took place directly after the blitz had finished and was attended by the poet Mr.Saad Abd El Rahman -chairman of the General Authority of the Cultural Palaces- and  Mr.Adel Saad -Chairman Of the Egyptian Chess Federation -and madame\Gihan El Sahar ,Mr.Ahmed Kamal and Eng.Medhat Moheb -members of board of the Egyptian Chess Federation- and Mr.Saeed Husanein -the Executive Director of the Egyptian Chess Federation and Mr.Mohamed Abd Elhaleem -head of the Arbiters Committee- Special prizes were awaded to Mr.Anwar Abd Elganey -former Chairman of the Egyptian Chess Federation- and the great Egyptian Women chess champions Nagwa Michel and Soheir Basta and the Egyptian chess veteran Mr.Maher Saleh and the legendary International lecturer and arbiter Eng.Hassan Khaled -the technical advisor of the Egyptian chess federation .

Former World Chess Champion U-20 And Egypt's Top Chess Player GM\Ahmed Adly Played A Simultaneous In SCCA

On Friday the 7th of October and under the banner of peace, love and tolerance former World Chess Champion U-20 and Egypt's top chess player GM\Ahmed Adly played a Chess simultaneous in SCCA (Smouha Club Chess Academy) against 32 players; most of them are SCCA students and with the participation of many players from Bibliotheca Alexandrina chess club who are trained by I.A Mr\Ahmed Yousef .Dr\Mohamed Magy Brekah -Sports advisor to the members of board -and the Colonel \Ahmed Amre -Smouha Security General Manager - attended the event .The simultaneous lasted for more than 3 hours and the final result was ( +31-1=0 ) in favor for the super grand master .GM\Ahmed lost only one game to the very talented Laila Rashed -member of Smouha Women Chess team and the daughter of the international player Mr.Nabil Rashed member of Smouha Men Chess team - in that game GM\Ahmed showed the ethics of a young gentleman and a real chess champion ;when he reached a lost position against Laila he refused gently her offer to draw the game but instead he encouraged her to continue playing to have self confidence and win which happened a few moves later .GM\Ahmed Adly then made a spectacular show when he played against 2 players -whom he chose from his opponents in the simultaneous (Laila Rashed and Yousef Ashraf)- simultaneously and blindfolded in a 15 minutes game ! The super GM showed his skills and impressively won the 2 games in a great style .

GM\Salem Saleh Won The Arab Elite Chess Championship From 25th Sep to 2nd Oct 2011

GM\Salem Saleh (2489 Elo) won The Arab Chess Championship 2011 by scoring 8 points out of 9 games ; former World Chess Champion GM\Ahmed Adly from Egypt (2605 Elo) won the silver medal and came second with 7.5 points while GM\Mohamad Al-Modiahki from Qatar (2564 Elo) came third .

The Egyptian Pharaoh GM\Ahmed Adly (2630) And The Talented WGM\Mona Khaled (2076) Deservedly Won The 2011 African Individual Chess Championship At Maputo, Mozambique from June 3rd-14th

 The Egyptian Chess Pharaoh and former World Chess Champion U-20 -in 2007-GM\Ahmed Adly (2630) deservedly clinched the title of the 2011 African Individual Chess Championship by scoring an incredible score of 8 points out of 9 games with a performance of (2734) ;GM\Essam Elgindy (2506) -from Egypt-came second with 6.5 points while FM\Robert Henry Steel from South Africa came third with 6.5 points .In the Woman's Section the Egyptian Queen WGM\Mona Khaled (2076) clinched the title with 7.5 points after a hard fought competition from WIM\Amina Mezioud (2037) from Algeria who came second while WIM\Denise Frick from South Africa came third.

World Junior Chess Champion U-20 GM\Ahmed Adly visits SCCA on 4\7\2009

World junior chess champion U-20 in (Yerevan,Armenia 2007) and the first Egyptian chess GM\Ahmed Adly -http://http//www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4266-visited SCCA and played a simul against 25 players ;the score was a crushing win (+25=0-0) in favor of the GM but the players then enjoyed a very instructive lecture given by the world champion.

Chess On The Nile :A Tournament Of Hope !

In Cairo (Arabic: القاهرة transliteration: al-Qāhira), that means "the triumphant", which is the capital and largest city of Egypt ,one of the most important chess events took place: Egyptian Youth Chess Champion-chip ‏‏ 2009 in Nahr Elnil hotel (which means :Nile River hotel)as it is directly overlooking on the river Nile at El Maadi District which is a wealthy suburb south of Cairo from 7-12 th of February. The tournament which was a Swiss event of (9) rounds attracted 198 players (160 boys and 38 girls) of young Egyptian talents from all over the country , whom where classified according to age and gender into 5 main categories as follows : 1) Boys U10: 26 players Girls U10 :10 players 2) Boys U12: 29 players Girls U12 :9 Players 3) Boys U14: 36 Players Girls U14 :10 Players 4) Boys U16: 49 Players Girls 16-18:9 Players 5) Boys U18: 20 Players The tournament had 2 players having official Fide titles :WGM\Mona khaled playing in boys U16 and FM\Andro Wagdy playing in boys U12 and also 5 rated players over 2000: Moheb Ameir (2081), Mohamed Nader (2013),WGM\Mona Khaled (2005) playing in boys U16 and Abd Elrahman Hesham (2085) , Marko Fadi (2037) playing in boys U18. The Egyptian Chess Federation bore the cost and fees of (1) boy and (1) girl from each region of the country to encourage as many players as possible to participate in the tournament. Students from Smouha Club Chess Academy (SCCA)-that was established in Alexandria under the auspices of well known business man engineer \Farag Amer chairman of Smouha Club-those students ;who had been playing chess for only 4 months surprised everyone and scored good results ; for example : In Girls U14 section :Youmna Mosaad made a great achievement and scored 6 points out of 9 and became fifth although she could have finished third but unfortunately in a critical game blundered away her queen while she was about to give her opponent a checkmate; and also In Boys U10 section :the very talented Abdelrahman Yasser Allam scored 5 points and finished 9th and also In Boys U12 section : the very talented Yasser Ibrahim played very fine games and finished the 12th and also Omar Mosaad played some good games in the same section but not with his full strength . One Final Word : Why is it a tournament of hope ? because In Egypt ;a population of about 80 millions ;we have only 3 GMS :Ahmed Adly, Bassem Amin and Essam Elgindy .The real hope of having more GMS depends mainly on the youth ,which means the acceleration of wide spreading chess everywhere in the country ,and creating a chess culture so more boys and girls come in to play the royal game ,which the Egyptian Chess Federation –under the auspice of Chairman \Hussein Nafady- is trying to do . I always admire the words of the late Senator\Robert Kennedy –God bless his soul- “Some men see things as they are and say why ? I dream things that never where and say why not ?” I hope my dream comes true one day …and that is another story.
