Dutch GM\Sergei Tiviakov deservedly won the first Panama Chess Open that took place from 3-7 November 2011 at the Hall Portobello Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City . 132 players from many countries (11 GMs,15 IMs ,11 FMs ,6 CMs ,5 WGMs ,7 WIMs ,1 WFM and 2 WCMs ) participated in the 9 round Swiss event . The time control was Fischer's (90 min and an increment of 30 sec from move 1 to the entire game . The first prize is 2000 $ while the second took 1300 $ and the third 1000 $. The Cuban GM\Walter Arencibia won the second place -by tiebreaks-after scoring 7 points while the Cuban GM\Aramis Alfarez came third ,GM\Manuel Perez came 4th and the Egyptian rising star IM\Samy Shoker came fifth with 7 points
